Dynovas Delivers Satellite Panel Demonstrator

SAN DIEGO, CA, October 2024 - Dynovas, Inc. has fabricated and validated the HTP Substrate Panel Demonstrator, an aluminum sandwich panel with integrated boss fittings and edge rails. This work was done to support a Major Space Application Hardware Provider and built to full flight specifications.  Dynovas was responsible for the tooling design, consolidation, assembly, and test.

The panel was consolidated using a custom pin plate to locate datums of each constituent part and cured on a flat platen to accommodate thermal expansion during cure. Dynovas tooling designers carefully considered hardware safety during cure and utilized low-profile tooling pins and an aluminum window frame built around the panel to prevent core collapse.

All environmental conditioning and load testing were performed by Dynovas using equipment designed by Dynovas team. The panel and WIP coupon were subject to nitrogen purged thermal cycling, at cold dwell of -70°C and hot dwell of 90°C.

Potted inserts were then proof tested with Hydrajaw setup and spreader plates. The Hydrajaws were threaded into the inserts and loaded to approximately 330 lbs for 15 seconds. All passed with no notable visual or audible defects or failure.
